From the beginning in the Chevrolet CK1500, I felt something was weird with the steering.

Playing with an xbox360 pad, I couldn't steer properly. Moving the stick slightly was not making the car slightly turning and pressing it a little more was driving it into a drift or spin. So I ended up doing spikes in my steering, giving small but strong hits to get small steering moves and constantly correcting. And what acted on the Chevy became more obvious with bigger trucks : slight stick moves was not acting before I stayed on this position long enough and then the truck was over-reacting running into drift.

So I tried a few parameters before finding the most obvious : Responsiveness.

And all of a sudden, eveything became smooth and clean.

No more lag or dead-zone effect, no more spikes needed to do slight steering adjustments, a very small stick move was translating into a very gentle truck direction adjustement. I could now place my wheels exactly where I aim on dangerous roads and drive long gentle curves at full speed keeping my finger pushing very slowly on the stick without over-reactions of the trucks. It was so much enjoyable and particulary with heavy trailers on roads where steering must be as soft as possible. It was just night and day.

So this mod corrects responsiveness of each truck and as there's a file per truck, you can correct one or all the trucks you want. As I said I play the game with a pad and I wonder if this would suit or improve driving with a wheel. I would be interested if wheel drivers could report their experience.

In my case, I really enjoy the game at a higher level. I hope you will too.

Lost my trucks as well. I'm using Realism Overhaul 2.0 so maybe there is some kind of conflict there. Alt-F4 immediately restored my previous progress.

This mod doesn't touch any save data... I just updated the mod for 17.0 and surely you used 16.1 mod version as you posted before my update... or just the vanilla one as the update rewrote the file previously patched by my mod, but even a revert to vanilla files should not occur any issue as it just resets truck steering settings to their default value and that's all.
Nonetheless, if you lost some data for any reason, you can check the description of my other mod for how-tos on recovering your previous saves Snowrunner.mod.io
PS : just to be sure, I applied the 17.0 mod in my game and my save is there with all my acquired trucks since day 1.

I have copyed the files and when the game loads, all my trucks are gone. i have placed the original initial.pak file back but the trucks are still gone. is there a way to fix this issue?

Sounds weird as this mod only changes some trucks settings. In doubt, you can check my notes about recovering past saves I wrote down for my Buy Everything mod :

Hey does this affect keyboard steering in some way ? I'm guessing it won't, but wanted to ask since the steering is weird is this game.

I'm not sure as I play with a pad, but I assume it should, as the variable adjusted in this mod is a per-truck property.

Hello scriptwriter. This is a good idea. I will try to use the steering wheel again via the in-game xbox settings. It should be possible to do this online. Could you create a steering wheel script that you use via the in-game xbox controller. Because it doesn’t support every snowrunner steering wheel. Greetings.

Thanks for the mention, I was unaware of your first post and somehow forgot to update this mod. I know nothing about steering wheel support anyway and this mod is completely control device independant. (I miss Schumi too)

Lo2k I have the steering wheel but there is too much play in the game. It's not accurate for me. (Schumi is best)

BigJety88 I updated the mod for 16.0 version, I hope it will do the trick for you.

Thank you for the mod, first of all!
I used this mod for quite a while myself, later with some manual adjustments until I found a simpler way with the basic game settings - for me this works great, too. Maybe it helps others as well:

Despite of using a gamepad, I set the controller set in the game options to "Steering Wheel" rather than "Gamepad".

This changes the way how steering input (and no steering input) is translated.
On Gamepad-Settings, steering will make the weels turn and remain in the turn position. The wheels only center gradually while driving, and they continuously keep steering slowly while giving steering inputs. This is, I believe, what causes the sluggish controls when driving slightly faster than crawling speed - when you steer a bit, the reaction is very slow. When you steer much, it takes quite a bit for the wheel to re-center and thus you have to counter-steer with the same problem again.
On Steering Wheel settings, the wheel steers only while you hold the controller stick, and it steers to the degree in which you actually push the controller stick (that's how a steering wheel works, after all). The re-centering happens as fast as the truck allows.

On Steering Wheel settings, I can do consistent very brief curves and turns buy just holding the stick slightly to the side or hard turns bu pushing the stick fully to the side, and the wheels re-center as soon as you release the stick.
The 'downside' is, you have to be a bit careful with how much you push the steering stick - but in my eyes, that's the purpose of using the stick rather than a simple press-no-press-button anyways.

A lengthy comment and only briefly related to your mod, but hopefully it helps some players!

Hi Lo2k, just having the same issue as a few others with the mod not installing and giving the -7 error. I originally installed this off the mod store but since then it is no longer there. I followed the steps for manual install but it didn't correct the issue. Also on my save game it doesn't give me any way of uninstalling the mod to remove the error message.

As far as I know, this mod never was in the mod store (at least I never achieved to do it) due to the limitation in the possible mods up there. This one should work if you follow the steps. ANd if you want to remove it, the solution is to restore your initial file backup that the steps ask to do (eventualy you might delete yours and ask Steam/Epic to check files integrity to restore the original one)

Ok thanks for the reply. I might try deleting the file and restore the original. But currently its not causing any problems and i dont wanna mess up my saved game. Im 100% on the first 5 zones so starting over is not desired lol.
