Mod is now compatible with update 12.2 from 18.03.2021! If you find a mistake, please let me know!
If there's a game update that changes any truck file, I'll update the mod asap.
Fast facts:
- manual installation only - see easy tutorial below
- fuel capacity changed to real values for every vanilla and addon truck
- fuel consumption lowered for several engine types
- especially for single players
- also supports multiplayer
If you like the mod, please subscribe - thumbs up - unsubscribe =) Or stay subscribed to get update notifications!
Somewhen:
- lower idle consumption for some of the vehicles
- better balancing. My target is to make every vehicle drivable between 30 and 50 minutes until the fuel is empty. However, trucks share different engines and gearboxes, so some trucks with very big fuel tanks will take longer until you have to get fuel for those.
- I don't want to annoy you guys with updates, so I try to update only with an official game patch
Description:
This mod may not be for everybody!
It will change the experience of the game! Some vehicles in SnowRunner have way too little fuel capacity. I do understand the general sense of challenge and balance of why fuel was integrated into this game as it is. However, as a single-player and a fan of realism, I couldn't stand some of the trucks and how they were just not usable, at all without the need for refueling every 10 to 15 minutes. I started changing some trucks I didn't like but then I decided to search for real-life data and changed every single vehicle! =) Also, I changed some of the fuel consumptions, which felt way too high. This should not feel like cheat vehicles, fuel will be used up, but it definitely changes the balance of the game. If you like keep going for 30 to 60 minutes without refuling, this mod is for you!
Keep in mind (or clarification on power-to-weight):
More fuel means more weight. The graph 'power-to-weight' might change a bit.
It's like in reality: The fuel level slowly shrinks while driving. The power-to-weight ratio is increased. If you refuel, the truck gets heavier, thus the ratio decreases. The actual power stays the same at all times!
However, that little graph and that A+ and S+ rating is absolutely misleading and should be changed to actual numbers. That graph implies that if you lose one bar, you suddenly have a lot less power, which is just not true!
Here's a little example:
truck weight fueled up: 5000 kg, power: 400 hp = power-to-weight ratio 0,080 or 80 hp per ton.
truck weight low on fuel: 4700 kg = power-to-weight ratio 0,085 or 85 hp per ton.
So this difference in the ratio is nothing that makes a significant change to how the vehicle performs, then again, it is on some occasions enough to change that misleading power-to-weight graph.
Installation and backup guide:
Make sure, you have the latest version of WinRAR installed! Other software will cause issues! Always make sure you backup your files before editing!
Manual installation:
- Use WinRAR! WinRAR supports *.pak files by default -> No support if you use other, more complicated software. (Download WinRAR for free: Win-rar.com)
- Find the path you installed Snowrunner to. The path is NOT the 'My Documents' folder! (You need to know where you installed your game - I can't tell you this)
- If you found your installation follow the path: SnowRunner\en_us\preload\paks\client
- Open the file 'initial.pak' with WinRAR.
- Open the downloaded mod-file with WinRAR, as well.
- Drag and drop the '[media]' folder from the downloaded mod-file into your initial.pak
- Done!
See changed fuel capacities below - feel free to use these values for your own mod!
Please understand, that I give no permission to upload this mod to other pages. If you want to share the mod, only use the original download link from snowrunner.mod.io.

Now I am playing with the beta version Snowrunner Phase 4, 13.1 and I am testing the new Zikz 605R (DLC) that corresponds to the MAZ 537 in real life I modified the capacity of the fuel tank to 840 liters, it is the capacity it has in the version real.

The Tayga looks like KrAZ 64431, not 6322: Military-informant.com
with the capacity of 2 tanks by 250 L...
1
That's possible. I referred to spintires.fandom.com. There is a site that says it's the counterpart of the Kraz 6322. I'll take a look at it, though.

yep, I also thought it's the 6322 unless I saw somewhere in the comments that it's actually not that famous 64431. The 64431 even has sleeping room behind the driver like the Tayga, here you may find more photos: Uralst.ru

Very great! I take a look at it, when I am home in a few days. Thanks!

Hey i see you didn't changed pacific_p12w fuel size yet. in game we have roughneck and you got non roughneck version(highway) as a example for fuel tank it has two 150 gallon tanks on both sides look into the game if you are not trusting me. Thats only thing in the list that makes no sense. here is source from Pacifictruckclub.org also it makes no sense to not look in game truck to see that it has huge fuel tanks on left and right. there is even brochure on pacifictruckclub for P12-W Roughneck

Seems like you're correct. Considering this is not a US vehicle, but a Canadian one, those Canadian thus British gallons, so we have a total value 1364 liters. Ooof. I was quite happy that the Kolobs and the Twin Steer were the only ones having such a massive fuel tank - this makes balancing quite hard tbh. Those are just some overpowered vehicles - but it would be stupid to break consistency with real values here. Going to change it. Have no info about if it's US gallons or British gallons, though, so I'll take British.

Hello, i saw a change in the fuel tank for voron grad, and i want to ask: will be change capacity for voron ae and voron d?
1
I have yet to take a look at it, was mostly looking at PTR version to make the mod compatible when Phase 3 has its release. It'll be done eventually :)

Hello, I was looking for data on the Voron D-53233 Ural 4322 (prototype) / 43223 (production car), since your data source indicated the source for Ural 4320 Mortarinvestments.eu . The sources that I found indicate that the Ural 4322 truck was equipped with two fuel tanks on both sides of the frame with a total volume of 269 liters, and the Ural 43223 truck had one fuel tank on the left side of the frame and had a volume of 270 liters. I'll take a look at this as well, thanks a lot =)

Thank you for reading and accepted for consideration.)

Hello, the mod indicates the incorrect value of the volume of fuel tanks for the following cars:
1) Voron Grad (Ural Next) in the game, the truck has one big tank, in reality it had a 300 liter tank, as well as different variations of two tanks on both sides of the frame. Uralavtozap.ru Az-ural.ru
2) Voron AE-4380 (Ural 4320) in the game it has one small fuel tank. I would assume this is a 210 liter tank as it is 1/3 smaller than the Voron Grad fuel tank. I know that this volume is less than in the original, but in fashion, and so there is International Paystar 5070 in which the tank is less in fashion than in the original. Uralavtozap.ru Sparox.ru
Sorry for my English.

So for the Voron Grad: I have literally Ural's homepage linked with the value named directly by Ural. It doesn't get closer than that. Same goes for the other 2 trucks you named. This is their real life value. If the link for the Voron AE-4380 doesn't work for you, search for Урал-4320 on Russian Wiki page.
So I put in some extra work for showing all sources I got my information from which literally show the real life value. There is just no way to integrate every possible fuel value for trucks with various configuration possibilities.
Please understand, if I change the values to your liking, somebody else will send me a message telling me the value is actually a different one for that truck I just changed, because that person found one of the other configurations for that truck. Trust me, my mailbox is full of these messages. There are trucks in this game that have like up to 50 configurations for engine, fuel, transmission etc. Neither of those are nearly correctly integrated in this game. And as long as I cannot configure the actual tank for the truck in the shop, I have to stick to one of these various fuel values.

Two fuel tanks on Ural Next are installed on opposite sides of the frame, you can see this if you compare the drawing with the description of the car on the official website Uralaz.ru Uralaz.ru
and this is for voron ae-4380 Uralaz.ru
1
Right as stated on their homepage. one is 300 liters and one is 180 liters. This makes 480 liters. I don't think I understand the issue, sorry.
1
judging by the various chassis options presented on the official website, the Ural Next truck has a different tank variation. The minimum option is 1 fuel tank of 300 liters on the left side of the frame. The largest option is 2 tanks, one for 300 liters to the left of the frame, and the second on the right for 180/210 liters. In the game we have a truck with one fuel tank on the left side of the frame.

Now I finally get it. I'll take a look at it. Thanks.
